Safelists don’t work.

I have heard this more than a few times.

When I posted my monthly safelist stats a few days ago I mentioned that I had received 173 new subscribers last month from all of the safelists and viral list builders that I use.  One of my readers found that hard to believe.

“Tell me how on earth did you ever recruit 173 people in one month on Safelists. You must have sent the Mafia out after them. In ten years I don’t think I got five. And of those only one ever did anything. What’s your secret?”

While I share most of this information freely and with more detail in my book Safelist Marketing Tactics I thought a quick summary of how I promote with safelists would be helpful.

1. I email every day.  Every day!  Or at least as often as I can.

2. I read other emails to earn credits… every day!

3. I use a lot of safelists.  Probably way too many.

4. I only use credit-based safelists.

5. I track my ads.  This tells me exactly which safelists are working for me and which ones are a waste of time.

6. I upgrade at the best safelists.

7. I promote something targeted to safelist users.  It probably doesn’t get more targeted than my ebook about safelist marketing.

8. I use eye-catching subjects.  I’ve studied what subjects other marketers use and I have tested dozens of my own to find out which emails get opened more often.

9. I personalize my emails.  I use the [FIRST_NAME] macro whenever it is available and try to include the name of the safelist in the body of the email.

10. I write short emails.  The goal is to just make them curious before they look at my site.

11. I promote unique splash/squeeze pages that I either made myself or had made for me.  Promoting a generic affiliate page is the best way to be ignored.

12. I use personal branding.  If someone sees my face long enough they may start to think I actually know what I am talking about.

13. I use autoplaying videos on some of my ads.  Why?  Because they work.

14. I use a rotator to show a variety of ads.  This is good for testing and can help you to keep your ads fresh.

If you are not using a rotator or link tracker you can get those at TE Toolbox.

As you can see there is no one “secret” to how I got 173 sign-ups last month using safelists and viral list builders.  It’s just a bunch of little things that add up over time.

There’s probably a bunch of other things I could be doing to improve my results more.  Anybody got some tips and tricks they want to share?  C’mon.. no secrets!

Keeping Track of Your TE Commissions

Author: Jerry Iannucci

Hello and Happy Sunday!

About a year and a half ago I did a video walk through of a new site at the time called TE Command Post.

You can check out the video here:
http://www.getrichwithjerry.com/video-review-of-my-te-command-post/

TE Command Post continues to be one of the most useful services for traffic exchanges surfers that I have ever used.  When you are a member of dozens of traffic exchanges like I am it becomes extremely helpful to keep track of all of your credits on all of your traffic exchanges with just one click.

This past week TE Command Post added a new feature which makes it an even more invaluable tool… the ability to track all of the commissions traffic exchanges owe you.

Check this out:http://www.mytecommandpost.comAccording to TE Command Post I had over $400 in commissions owed to me that I had not yet received.  Now some of these sites do pay monthly and I just have not been paid yet this month.  List Surfing is a good example of this.  But many other sites require you to login and manually request your commissions be paid.  If you don’t know you are owed commissions you never get paid.

Just another reason why I believe TE Command Post is an essential tool for all Internet marketers who are promoting with traffic exchanges.

If you are not already a member then sign-up, select your traffic exchanges, and find out immediately who owes you money.

One of the biggest boosts I have gotten in my Internet marketer career happened when I started attending online Internet marketing conferences.  It it something I find myself constantly recommending to other marketers no matter what their experience level is.

I thought I would make a post listing some of my favorite online Internet marketing conferences that I try to attend as often as possible.

These conferences are all free!

These are not sales calls.  I always tell people that in these conferences there is no hype, no bs, and nobody will ever try to sell you anything.  It’s just a good place to network with other marketers and get the help you need from the people who are actually successful in this business.

Participation is totally optional.  If you want to ask questions and get involved in the conversation you will definitely get the most out of the experience.  However, if you would prefer to hang back and just observe what goes on you are more than welcome to do that too.

Affiliate Funnel
When: Every Saturday @ Noon EST
Hosts: William Brandt and Paul Kinder
Where: http://www.hotconference.com/conference,82001688

This was the conference that started it for me.  Affiliate Funnel brings to the table a wide variety of great guest speakers every week from around the industry.  The discussions are usually followed by an open q&a session where participants are free to ask any questions they have.  This is one of the largest weekly conferences I attend with dozens of big name program owners in attendance every week.  After the conference is over is not unusual to find owners offering incredible credit deals on their sites.  You would be amazed at the kind of deals you can find just from attending this one conference every week.  Highly recommended.

TimTech (T3)
When: Every Monday @ 7:00 PM EST
Hosts: Jon Olson, Tim Linden, and Justin Ledvina
Where: http://www.trafficexchangelive.com/room.php

This was formerly the conference to support TE Toolbox but with the recent forming of TimTech this conference is now covering all of their businesses under one umbrella.  This includes TE Toolbox, Sweeva, Adkreator, Click Track Profit, I Love Hits, and StartXchange.  The discussions are not limited to just these programs and often cover things like social networking, personal branding, list building, and starting an online business.

Tezak Traffic Power
When: 1st and 3rd Wednesday @ 6:30 PM EST
Hosts: Tony Tezak
Where: http://www.hotconference.com/conference,ttpchat

This is mostly a conference dedicated to members of Tezak Traffic Power traffic exchange.  You will find lots of great information here about how to get the most out of using free traffic exchanges to promote your sites.  Plenty of prizes are given away to attendees making this a very fun a conference to attend.

SWAT Traffic
When: Every Wednesday @ 8:00 PM EST
Hosts: James Holmes
Where: http://swattraffic.com/seminarroom.html

Another traffic exchange related conference room presented by SWAT Traffic.  Here you will find a wider discussions about the traffic exchange industry as a whole and discover lots of new ways to improve your online business.

Get Referrals Fast
When: Every Thursday @ 8:00 PM EST
Hosts: Mike Paetzold and Jerry Reeder
Where: http://www.hotconference.com/conference,81842117

The Get Referrals Fast conferences are a more structured than some of the others listed above.  These conferences are serious online training classes covering everything from list building, traffic generation, content creation, and all the nitty gritty details of running a successful online business.  This is some of the best online training you will find and the fact that it is given away for free makes this well worth attending every week.

Traffic Exchange Live
When: Every Weekday @ 4:00 PM EST
Hosts: Jon Olson, Tim Linden, and Justin Ledvina
Where: http://www.trafficexchangelive.com

This one is probably my favorite.  It is much less structured than the other conferences.  We often joke that we discuss everything here except business.  That’s not really true because TE Live is really more of a daily 1-hour peek into the lives of some of the more successful online business owners.  You would be surprised how much you can learn about running an online business just from “hanging out” with the people who are doing it.  Highly recommended.
