The Best Safelists for May 2012

Welcome to May!

It’s the first of the month and that means it’s time to dig out my marketing stats from last month and see which safelists and viral list builders are currently bringing me the best results.

But first… here’s what happened last month.

I finally got List Outbreak working!  List Outbreak is a new old-school style viral list builder from Mike Purvis that requires you to get 2 referrals before you can use the mailer.  I promoted List Outbreak briefly when it first launched but it seems there was a problem with my account that was preventing my referrals from being recorded.  I never mentioned List Outbreak here because I didn’t want to recommend something I have not used.  Once we fixed what was wrong with my account Jared Silver and Winnie Peric were kind enough to join under me and unlock my mailer.  Now that I can see the “viral” aspect of List Outbreak in action I can really see the potential of this unique mailer.  List Outbreak debuts low on my rankings list this month but I hope to see my results continue to increase as my downline grows.

Easily the biggest news from last month is the launch of Matthew Graves’s TopTierMailer.  You can read my full review here: read review

I admit I didn’t join TopTierMailer right away.  The site is running on a unique script and there were some early bugs that needed to be worked out.  It’s still not 100% but it’s getting there.  I started using TopTierMailer less than 2 weeks ago and it has already secured a top spot in my rankings right next to the sites I have been using all month.  With now over 3,700 members and new members pouring in every day TopTierMailer is definitely the place to be right now.

That’s what’s happening… now let’s get to the stats!

Here’s how it works.  Every day I use 30-40 different safelists and viral list builders to promote squeeze pages that give away free copies of my ebook Safelist Marketing Tactics.  I track all of my emails using a free link tracker to see how often my emails are read as well as how many new subscribers I receive to my list.  I then share those stats here on my blog each month to show you which safelists and viral list builders are bringing me the best results.

I think it is important to point out that I do have upgraded memberships at most of these sites which often gives me the ability to send my ads more often than free members.  My ads are also very targeted to other safelist members which does help to increase my response rate.  Your results my vary.

Ready? Here we go…

Hits Unique Signups Ratio
Your EZ List 1051 63.00% 23 2.19%
Viral List Builder Plus 1482 50.00% 18 1.21%
List Bonus 2366 69.00% 17 0.72%
TopTierMailer 1018 76.00% 12 1.18%
List Adventure 1334 57.00% 8 0.60%
Ultimate List Generator 256 64.00% 8 3.13%
Instant List Empire 551 52.00% 7 1.27%
List Surfing 1054 79.00% 7 0.66%
Email-Hog 1438 73.00% 7 0.49%
EZ Profit List 445 58.00% 7 1.57%
State of the Art Mailer 2874 70.00% 6 0.21%
Genie Mailer 847 44.00% 6 0.71%
Adsolutionline 2105 39.00% 5 0.24%
List Outbreak 519 65.00% 5 0.96%
List Effects 221 63.00% 4 1.81%

Your EZ List continues to kick butt and I can’t figure out why.  The site is about as plain as it gets but the members appear to be extremely active.  I don’t know if it will be at the top of the list forever but for now Your EZ List is highly recommended.

I mentioned last month that I had been using List Bonus without the added benefits of an upgraded member.  Now that I am upgraded List Bonus is once again performing like one of the best mailers as I always believed it was.  Very happy to be back.

And look at TopTierMailer!  As I mentioned earlier I have only been using the mailer for less than 2 weeks.  I will be surprised if TopTierMailer is not at the very top of the list next month.

That’s all for this month.  Don’t forget that these stats are the result of my own personal marketing efforts.  I provide these stats only to show what is currently working best for me.  What works best for you might be something entirely different but you will never know unless you are tracking your ads.  You can get the same free link tracker that I use from TE Toolbox.

  1. Hi Jerry

As you and others have been saying such great things about toptiermailer I’ve decided to join.

Afraid my advertising budget can’t stretch to $97 at the moment, but I hope to upgrade eventually.

  2. I think you will like it. It’s a little bit different but Matthew has managed to bring in a lot of people who I suspect are new to safelists. It’s a great opportunity to get your ads in front of some fresh eyeballs.

  3. Hey Jerry,

I was looking forward to see how Genie Mailer was working for you and I am glad to see it got you results. Considering the membership size I think that is a good number. I am working on getting new members and improving it even more everyday.

The promo code plug-in has just been installed and here is a special gift for Jerrys’ blog readers:

Use the code “JERRYI” to claim 700 CREDITS!

    Success!

  4. Thank you for the code!

Genie Mailer is still small but growing. I appreciate all of the hard work you have been putting into the site.

  5. hello Jerry

Thanks for your stats on safelists however, if I assume that each one has 5000 at least members and you send every day then you have sent 2,250,000email ad’s through April.

Whats your thoughts on getting a 0.78% hit rate and a 0.006% sign up return.

IMO stats like this only show and support someone who is dealing with the same product, service or whatever you are or do you think that these returns arean example for any service and product advertising via safelists ?

  6. Hi Chris.

I would say the average safelist I am using is in the 3000-4000 members range. Safelists advertising huge memberships usually keep inactive members in their list to make themselves look bigger. Most of the emails you send to these larger lists will never be received.

I don’t keep track of how many emails I send. I just send as many as they will let me as often as I can. My ads received 33,244 hits last month resulting in 174 sign-ups from 35-40 different safelists and viral list builders.

I honestly don’t pay that much attention to sign-up ratios with safelists. Viral List Builder Plus has a much better sign-up ratio than List Bonus but I received just as many sign-ups for doing just as much work. That makes them both equally good to me.

As I mention in the post these stats are the results of my own marketing efforts. Since my pages are designed specifically for safelists my results are probably above average. However, while your results may not be the same as mine the sites which are producing the best results for me in theory should also produce the best results for you.

  7. I go over some of the techniques I use in my book Safelist Marketing Tactics. Setting up email filters is an important step to managing all of your incoming email. I’m using an offline email program but it is just as easy to do in gmail. Upgrades help too. There’s a bunch of safelists I barely need to click because I have so many credits saved up. Also, if you are not already a member check out Viral Mail Profits for an easy way to manage all of your safelist accounts.

  8. Hey Jerry, I just signed up at TopTierMailer and am about to go check it out.

I liked how you can surf at SplashPageSurfer, WebBizInsider, and TopTierTraffic and move your credits to the mailer.

    Thanks for the info!
