The Best Safelists for February 2012

Author: Jerry Iannucci

Welcome back!

The calendar on my wall says it is February but the thermometer is making it feel more like May.  Regardless of what the weather may feel like outside it’s time for another fun filled blog post revealing my top safelists and viral list builders.

I didn’t spot any major new launches last month but I am happy to report that Email-Hog is back up and running!  I held off on sending an email about the relaunch until I could verify that everything was up and working again.  Hopefully we will see them ranking well again next month.  If you were a member before the site went down a few months ago you may still be able to retrieve your old account data by filling out the form on this page: http://email-hog.com/recover.php

That’s it for the news.   Let’s get to the stats!

Every day I promote a number of squeeze pages using safelists and viral list builders which give away free copies of my ebook Safelist Marketing Tactics. I use a free link tracker to determine how much traffic my mailings generate as well as how many new subscribers I receive.  I then compile all of that data and share the results here on my blog each month to show you which safelists and viral list builders are bringing me the best results.

I always like to point out that I do have upgraded memberships at most of these sites which usually allows me to send my ads more often.  My ads are also very targeted to other safelist members which does help to increase the response rate.  Your results my vary.

Here we go…

Congrats to Viral List Builder Plus for making it to the top of the list!

A big thank you to List Hoopla for recommending Your EZ List to me.  It’s not the sexiest list builder out there.  In fact it’s about as bare bones as it gets.  But so far the results have been excellent.

Looking at the stats I also want to mention that I recently let my upgrade at List Joe expire.  It’s always been a relatively expensive upgrade which was well worth the price about a year ago but with all the new viral list builders it’s effectiveness had been going down.  Oddly, now that I am a free member again my results have been going back up.  If this keeps up I may have to spring for another upgrade.

That’s it for this month.  Keep in mind that these stats are the result of my own marketing efforts and your results may vary.  These stats are only provided as a guide to show you what is currently working best for me.  What works best for you might be something entirely different but you will never know unless you are tracking your ads.  You can get the same free link tracker that I use when you join TE Toolbox.

The Best Safelists for November 2011

Author: Jerry Iannucci

Hello and welcome to November!

It’s a new month and that means it’s time to dig out my safelist and viral list builder advertising stats from last months and share with you what sites are currently bringing me the best results.

But first… the news!

The biggest launch from last month was the new release of a unique viral list builder from my good friend John Bell.  It’s called Viral List Builder Plus.  I don’t have any stats to share yet but so far I am really enjoying this site.  One of the unique features displays the open rate of all emails sent through the site.  Members are receiving between 17% and 20% open rate for all emails sent through the system.  Not bad.  I will definitely keep working this one and share my stats with you next month.

Now for the stats.

If you’ve never been here before this is how it works.  Every month I promote a series of lead capture pages for my ebook Safelist Marketing Tactics on 30-40 different safelists and viral list builders.  I try to view as many emails from other members as I can to earn enough credits to send my emails as often as possible.  I use a free link tracker to find out how my hits my pages received from each site as well as how many new subscribers I received.  I do have upgraded memberships at most of these sites which usually allows me to send my ads more often.  My ads are also very targeted to other safelist and viral list builder members which help to increase my results.  Your results my vary.

Hits Unique Signups Ratio

Adchiever 1704 69.00% 11 0.65%
Viral URL 34 81.00% 10 29.41%
AdsolutionLine 2734 42.00% 9 0.33%
Elite Safelist 2612 38.00% 9 0.34%
Ultimate Profit List 1048 73.00% 9 0.86%
Instant List Empire 340 66.00% 8 2.35%
List Joe 1576 75.00% 8 0.51%
Quick List Profits 505 64.00% 8 1.58%
List Effects 355 61.00% 7 1.97%
Adtactics 1788 40.00% 6 0.34%
Global Safelist 1411 38.00% 5 0.35%

Not a bad month.  The top 3 sites continue to dominate as they have for the past few months.  I love seeing List Adventure in the Top 5.  So many VLBs have come and gone over the last year that it’s great to see this site still competing so well.  If you are not yet a member of any of these I highly recommend joining now.

That’s it for this month.  I will be keeping a close eye on Viral List Builder Plus over the next few weeks and hopefully have some good stats to share with you next month.

Keep in mind that these stats are the result of my own marketing efforts and may not match your own.  These are only provided as a guide to show you what is currently working best for me.  What works best for you might be something entirely different but you will never know unless you are tracking your ads.  You can get the same free link tracker that I use when you join TE Toolbox.

The Best Safelists for September 2011

Author: Jerry Iannucci

Welcome to September!

Another month down and a whole new month of stats to share for the best safelists and viral list builders out there today.

The big news from last month was the re-release of List Surfing.  This site definitely got a lot of attention and with good reason.  List Surfing does an amazing job of blending the best elements of a traffic exchange with a safelist to create a unique advertising environment.  Best of all List Surfing has brought social marketing into the safelist arena which is something this industry has been very much lacking.

If you missed it I did a video review of List Surfing that you can watch here:

http://www.getrichwithjerry.com/list-surfing-video-review/

Not too much else to report.  I did test a few older safelists that I had joined years ago but quit because they weren’t producing good results.  The results from last month weren’t good enough to put them in the top 15 so I won’t bother mentioning them.  Needless to say if you have any good safelists or viral list builders that you recommend which you don’t think I am member of please send them my way.

On to the stats…

Here’s how it works.  I promote a series of squeeze pages for my ebook Safelist Marketing Tactics on 30-40 different safelists and viral list builders.  I use a tracking service to tell me how many hits I receive from each site as well as how many new subscribers I received.  I do have upgraded memberships on most of these sites which often allow me to send my ads to more members and more often.  I also spend time every day clicking emails for credits which allow me to send my ads to the maximum number of people as often as possible.  Your results may vary.

Not a bad month.  Pretty cool to see an old school safelist like AdsolutionLine topping the list.   Makes me wish I earned commissions there but it’s a totally free safelist.  So if you’re not a member, that’s definitely one you will want to join.

Everything else looks about right.  A nice mix of safelists and viral list builders.  It’s not too hard to see from looking at this list which are the best sites to be advertising on this month.

I should mention that List Surfing is a little bit lower on the list than I would have expected.  That’s because the mailer credits are earned by surfing in the traffic exchange side of the site.  Unfortunately I haven’t had enough time to earn enough credits to reach the maximum number of members for every mailing.  That makes it a little harder to compare to the other sites.  I will say that the branding and the social aspect of List Surfing puts it a little bit ahead of the competition but that is something which is kinda hard to measure with these kinds of stats.

That’s it for this month.  Don’t forget that these are my own personal stats based on my own efforts.  Your results may differ from mine.  These stats are provided to give you a starting point for new safelists and viral list builders to try.  The only way to determine which sites work best for you is to track your own stats.  You can get the same link tracker that I use for free from TE Toolbox.

Yesterday saw the launch of the new program from Walter Bayliss called Totally Tweetable.

Let me start out by saying that I am a big fan of Walter’s sites.  I use Instant Blog Subscribers every time I update my blog.  It’s a great program.  So I was very much looking forward to see what Walt’s latest project was going to be.  I have to admit I was very disappointed to find out that it was a new Twitter marketing tool.

I like Twitter.  I have Twitter setup as my homepage in my browser.  I don’t tweet a whole lot but I am following some interesting people and I love reading my updates throughout the day.  So when I started seeing automated messages sent by Totally Tweetable through the Twitter accounts of some of the people I was following I knew this was going to be a problem.  I say “was following” because I have no interest in having my Twitter feed filled with advertisements.  I have been unfollowing Totally Tweetable members since the site launched.

I was going to totally ignore Totally Tweetable until I started to see some glowing reviews from other marketers who’s opinions I respect.  I figured I should join and take a look for myself to see if it’s as bad as it appears.

To be fair, Totally Tweetable starts out pretty good.  It’s essentially a safelist/viral list builder.  As a free member you can send an email (not a tweet) to 100 members every 7 days.  You can earn additional credits to send your ads to more members by reading the emails sent by other members.

No problem there.  I love safelists so that’s right up my alley.

The problem comes when you read your emails and claim your credits the program automatically sends a tweet from your Twitter account promoting the ad you just read.  Yes, it’s good for the advertiser but it basically turns your Twitter into a spam account.  If you read 20 emails a day to earn credits that means you are going to be sending 20 tweets a day promoting other people’s sites.

Why would anybody want to do this?

Want to know the fastest way to lose Twitter followers?  Use Totally Tweetable.

It appears there are ways around this.  You can create a fake Twitter account to use exclusively with Totally Tweetable.  You can even skip the Twitter verification part to prevent the site from accessing your Twitter account.  But what is the point of this?  If your ads are being retweeted with Totally Tweetable you can bet that most of them are either going to garbage Twitter accounts or they are being sent along with dozens of other automated tweets pissing off that member’s followers.

I don’t know why Internet marketers have to try and turn everything they touch into a spam tool.  Twitter is far too powerful to be abused like this.  If you are a Twitter user you should be following people you want to follow and tweeting the things your followers want to read.  Twitter is a “social” platform.  It’s not for automated spamming!

To sum up… Totally Tweetable appears to be a good looking safelist/viral list builder that you can use to email your ads to other members.  However if you link it to your Twitter account you might as well kiss all of your followers goodbye.  If you choose to join make sure you setup a fake Twitter account or skip the step that gives Totally Tweetable access to your account.

The Best Safelists for August 2011

Author: Jerry Iannucci

Hello!

Welcome to my August 2011 report of the current best safelists and viral list builders.

If this is your first time here you are in for a treat.  Every month I share my personal marketing stats from all of the safelists and viral list builders I used during the previous month.  This should help you get a better idea of what safelists and viral list builders are producing the best results going into the new month.  I also like to share any news or announcements of big launches that recently happened.

Last month there were no new safelists or viral list builder launches to report.  Sorry.

There was a new feature released at State of the Art Mailer worth mentioning called “Time Bonus Ads”.  I wrote about this in a previous post that you can find here.  To be honest I totally forgot all about this new feature since I last wrote about it… but that’s how it works!  You earn credits to show your banner ads across their network just doing the stuff you are already doing.  Since I last checked it I have had my banner shown 23,198 times and had 30 click-thrus to my sites.  Not bad for not having to do any extra work.

Ok, time for the stats…

Here’s how it works.  I promote several squeeze pages for my ebook Safelist Marketing Tactics on all of the top safelists and viral list builders.  I then track how many hits I received from each mailer and how many new subscribers they brought to my list.  I do have have upgraded memberships on most of these mailers which allow to me send my ads more often.  I also spend time every day clicking email ads for credits that allow me to send my emails to as many members as I can as often as I can.  This list is only intended as a guideline and your results my vary.

Downline Builders Direct 338 55.00% 4 1.18%

Total July sign-ups from all mailers (including those not listed here): 160

Not too much has changed from last month.   The only exception is Instant List Empire which has made a pretty big jump from last month.  I like this mailer because as an upgraded member I only receive maybe one or two emails a day.  That makes earning extra credits a little tricky but it also means every time I send out an ad it gets noticed.

That’s it!  Don’t forget that these are my own personal tracking stats from promoting my own pages.  Your results may vary but you will never know unless you are tracking your own ads.  You can get the same tracking service I use for free from TE Toolbox.

Now get out there and start sending your ads!

The Best Safelists for April 2011

Author: Jerry Iannucci

I have come to the conclusion that safelists and viral list builders don’t work so this will be my final update.

Wait for it…

April Fools!

Ok, that was weak.  We all know safelists and viral list builders rock.  I will keep posting my stats every month until they stop rocking which I suspect won’t be for a very long time.

Did you hear that Viral Mail Profits had a relaunch last month?  That’s no joke!  In my opinion Viral Mail Profits is the best tool to manage all of your safelist and viral list builder mailings from one location.  They have now added their own mailer to allow you to send your ads to other Viral Mail Profits members.  I don’t have any stats to share this month but the results have been very good so far.

The latest viral list builder just launched a few days ago from Michael Coursey.  I’m talking about My Viral List Profits.  This one is so new I haven’t even had a chance to test it out yet.  I do have a special promo code that you can use if you want to test it out for yourself.  This is an exclusive promo code so don’t go sharing it with everybody you know (ok, you can share it with a few people).  Use promo code “safelistexclusivecode” to get 1000 credits, 1000 banner impressions, and 1000 text ads.  It’s only good for the first 100 people who use it so don’t wait too long to use it.  Enjoy!

Ok, let’s get to the stats…

Last month I picked up a total of 191 subscribers just from advertising my squeeze pages on safelists and viral list builders.

Keep in mind that I have upgraded memberships at most of the safelists and viral list builders which often allows me to send more ads more often.  So your results with some of these sites may vary.

Hits Unique Subscribers Ratio
Viral URL 60 92% 32 53.33%
The Lead Magnet 1,272 70% 16 1.26%
Quick List Profits 694 68% 14 2.02%
State of the Art Mailer 3,996 76% 13 0.33%
Instant Profit List 560 65% 13 2.32%

List Joe
1,695 69% 9 0.53%
AdsolutionLine 2,945 43% 8 0.27%

For years people have been telling me to try Viral URL but I resisted because it’s not credit based and I don’t care about link cloaking and viral ad bars.  But their “Gold” membership allows me to email 3,000 random members every 3 days.  That doesn’t sound like much but the results speak for themselves.  I think I will be sticking with Viral URL for awhile.

As far as the credit based sites, I am sure Stefan Berg will be happy to see that The Lead Magnet is on top once again.  Way to go Stefan!

As a matter of fact, almost all of the new viral list builder sites have been kicking butt lately.  It’s nice to see something new taking place in the industry that is actually working.  If you are not a member of any of the new viral list builders listed above do give them a try.  They are very simple to use and the results have been great.

That’s going to do it for this update.  Keep in mind that all the stats that you see above are a result of my own advertising efforts with my own ads.  Your results may vary but you’ll never know it unless you are tracking your ads!  You can get a free link tracker that will show you which ad sites work best for you from TE Toolbox.

Last week I sent out a mailing to my list on behalf of Brett Phillips and John Guanzon about the relaunch of their program TEReports.

In addition to adding two new products and twice as may new squeeze pages for upgraded members TERports now offers a squeeze page for free members.  This is a great way for free members to start building their list using free traffic exchange programs.

One of my subscribers replied to my email with a questions about using traffic exchanges and squeeze pages.  I thought I would share my response here.

Hi Jerry. I have been receiving your emails for some time now. I like the info but I need some clarity. How do I get on the traffic exchanges, and how will anyone find my squeeze page? I have a network marketing business and I would like to reach lots and lots of people, but I am not sure how. How can traffic exchanges and squeeze pages help me?

Hey Paul.

That’s a pretty big question but i’ll do my best to reply here.

First, to get on the traffic exchanges just pick one and join it.

You can start with any of these:
http://affiliatefunnel.com/top5te.php?rid=6698

They are all free but if you upgrade to a paid membership you’ll get more traffic for less work.

There are lots of guides out there about using traffic exchange but most of it is pretty self-explanatory:

1. Visit other member sites to earn credits
2. Spend your credits to show your site to other members

Using a traffic exchange is a great way to expose your squeeze page to thousands of new people.

It is important to remember though that the traffic you get from traffic exchanges is inscentivized (I know, big word).  Basically, that means that most people are only coming to your site because they want to earn credits to show their own site.  Your squeeze page should directly target these people and hopefully be interesting enough to stand out in the crowd.

It helps to have your own product to give away as an incentive for surfers to subscribe to your list.  If you don’t have your own product then you can use any of the free ones provided by TERports.  They all work really well in traffic exchanges.

Once you start building your list you have the opportunity to build a relationship with the people on your list and to potentially sell to them over and over again.

That’s sorta the simplified version but hopefully you get the gist of it.

If you need more details… just ask!

My First 3 Years of List Building

Author: Jerry Iannucci

I started building my list on June 30, 2007.

I know this because I just checked my Aweber account and searched for the date that my first lead was added.

I felt compelled to look this information up because I received an unexpected email from one of my subscribers tonight.  She was replying to one of the emails I had set to send from my autoresponder 3 years ago!

No, I am not crazy enough to try and write 3 years worth of emails.  I don’t even remember why I did it but for some reason I set the last message in my email series to be sent after 999 days.  The email simply said:

Just checking in to say hello.

How’s it going?

I never expected I would still be doing this 999 days later or that anybody would still be reading my emails after 3 years but sure enough I got a response back tonight:

[]Hi!
thank you for the message.

Have a Blessed new Week.
~ Becky

Thank you Becky!

Over the last few years I have started to gain some perspective on this whole make money from home thing.  I’ve noticed that there is always a handful programs that everybody is trying to promote claiming it’s the next big thing.  It usually lasts for about 3 or 4 months until the focus shifts to a new batch of programs.

For every hot new program you can name now I can name a dead one from a year ago that was just as popular.

I started building my list because I got involved with one of those dead programs which thankfully provided it’s members with lead capture pages to promote.  They had an in-house autoresponder but I chose to pay a little extra to use a 3rd party one.  That’s how I found Aweber.

The company I was promoting is long gone…

But after 3 years, I still have my list!

I’m not saying it’s wrong to promote the latest and greatest opportunity… just do it on the back end!

The only thing you should be promoting are things that build your brand and build your list.  Once people are on your list and have gotten to know you THEN you can introduce them to whatever you want.  If they aren’t interested… well, you’ve got at least 3 years to find something that they are interested in.

So thank you Becky for continuing to read my emails.  I’m going to keep building my list and I look forward to hearing how everyone else is doing for the next 999 days.

Are you ready for another video?

I stayed up late last night recording this video review of Instant Blog Subscribers which is the new free blogging site that was recently launched by Walt Bayliss.

Unfortunately it was about 4:00 am by the time I finished recording the video and I forgot to mention a few things.

One of the things I forgot to mention is the ability for people to subscribe to your blog with one-click.

That button will appear at the top of your blog.  When someone clicks the button they will automatically be subscribed to your blog and they will be notified via email every time you post a new update.  That’s very cool.

Here’s the link to my IBS blog if you want to check it out:
http://www.instantblogsubscribers.com/?w=jerryiannucci

I also wanted to talk a little more about what you can do with your blog.  Basically you can use your blog to share almost anything you want.  For example right now I am sharing my website reviews but you can also post articles you’ve written, share something you learned, rave about something you love, or rant about something you hate.  As you saw in the video some people are even using their blogs as a place to post their ads.  There are really very few limitations for what you can do with your blog.

Finally, I don’t know if the video came off as a review as much as just a walk through of the main features on the site.  In case I forgot to say it, I really really like Instant Blog Subscribers!  It’s sort of the first of what I expect to be many sites that are taking elements of safelist marketing and making them more social.  I think IBS can do more to expand on some of these features such as making comments easier to manage and providing more stats but at this point the site is still really brand new.  I expect to see more developments in the near future.

By the way, in the video you may have noticed that I reposted my review of the site List Zillion which also appears on this blog.  That was less than 9 hours ago.  Since then I have received 5 new sign-ups at List Zillion all of which came from my post at Instant Blog Subscribers.  That’s crazy!

So head over to Instant Blog Subscribers and create your free blog right now.  You don’t need to be a professional blogger to take advantage of this one.  Every post you make will instantly be shared with 200 other members.  There is no better time to start blogging than today.

I usually avoid promoting individual giveaway events and prefer to just post weekly updates here on my blog.  However, every so often an event comes along that deserves a special mention.

This one is called “Internet Marketing JV Gifts” and it’s being run by UK marketer Anthony Tilley who has managed to get a few really big names involved to ensure this is going to be the biggest event of the summer.

With this event you will be able to build a huge list of subscribers in a short amount of time, not to mention some really sweet commissions you can earn from promoting the event.
