My First 3 Years of List Building

Author: Jerry Iannucci

I started building my list on June 30, 2007.

I know this because I just checked my Aweber account and searched for the date that my first lead was added.

I felt compelled to look this information up because I received an unexpected email from one of my subscribers tonight.  She was replying to one of the emails I had set to send from my autoresponder 3 years ago!

No, I am not crazy enough to try and write 3 years worth of emails.  I don’t even remember why I did it but for some reason I set the last message in my email series to be sent after 999 days.  The email simply said:

Just checking in to say hello.

How’s it going?

I never expected I would still be doing this 999 days later or that anybody would still be reading my emails after 3 years but sure enough I got a response back tonight:

[]Hi!
thank you for the message.

Have a Blessed new Week.
~ Becky

Thank you Becky!

Over the last few years I have started to gain some perspective on this whole make money from home thing.  I’ve noticed that there is always a handful programs that everybody is trying to promote claiming it’s the next big thing.  It usually lasts for about 3 or 4 months until the focus shifts to a new batch of programs.

For every hot new program you can name now I can name a dead one from a year ago that was just as popular.

I started building my list because I got involved with one of those dead programs which thankfully provided it’s members with lead capture pages to promote.  They had an in-house autoresponder but I chose to pay a little extra to use a 3rd party one.  That’s how I found Aweber.

The company I was promoting is long gone…

But after 3 years, I still have my list!

I’m not saying it’s wrong to promote the latest and greatest opportunity… just do it on the back end!

The only thing you should be promoting are things that build your brand and build your list.  Once people are on your list and have gotten to know you THEN you can introduce them to whatever you want.  If they aren’t interested… well, you’ve got at least 3 years to find something that they are interested in.

So thank you Becky for continuing to read my emails.  I’m going to keep building my list and I look forward to hearing how everyone else is doing for the next 999 days.

Build Your List, Build Your Business

Author: Jerry Iannucci

Welcome to part 2 of my exclusive money making series.

Today I want to start talking about my favorite subject… List building!

There  is is actually a lot more to this subject than I can cram into one blog posting but i’ll try and go over the basics to start with as much as I can.

If you are reading this chances are you have already tried promoting some kind of online business or affiliate program.  I am guessing you probably figured out  how to get some traffic but for some reason you aren’t getting many sales… if any.

Not as easy as you expected, is it?

Well, you are not alone.  Even people who are promoting free affiliate sites can have a hard time getting sign-ups.  That’s because most people don’t know them or trust them enough to join.

Trust is very important!

Here’s one of my favorite quotes:

“All things being equal people would rather buy from someone they know and trust.  All things NOT being equal… people would STILL rather buy from someone they know and trust”.

So how do you build trust?  Well, it does take some time…  and it usually takes a lot longer than the time it takes for someone to read your site.

In fact, here’s what usually happens.  Someone visits your website, they read your offer and think “sounds interesting, but i’m not ready to commit to this right now”. So what happens?  They leave and probably never come back.  The time and energy you spent getting them to your site was wasted.

That’s where the autoresponder comes in.

Your autoresponder is the single most important weapon in any Internet
marketer’s arsenal because it let’s you follow-up with your prospect days
and even months after they leave your website site.

The way it works is that you offer something of value to the people coming to your website in exchange for their email address.  Your offer can be a free ebook, a newsletter, software, or almost any other “digital” product.

When your visitor fills out the form on your site their info is sent to your autoresponder which then begins sending out a series of pre-written emails to them.  These emails can be used to tell your subscribers more about yourself and your business while providing them with more free information that they can use which compliments the free product you first sent them.

Hopefully over time your readers will get to know you and even look forward to the emails they receive from you.  Once they begin to trust you it makes it much easier for you to recommend paid products and services that you can earn commissions from later on.

Another great thing about autoresponders is that once you have your emails series setup you can practically set it and forget it.  If you wanted to you could set it to send an email a week for the next 5 years and it would do it for you.

Compare that to sending someone directly to your website where you only have one chance to get a sale.

Unfortunately good autoresponders are not free.  That’s one of the few things that you are just going to have to bite the bullet on if you want to succeed in this business.  Expect to pay about $20/month for a good autoresponder.

I recommend using either Aweber or TrafficWaveAweber is considered to be one of the best and includes a lot of advanced features.  TrafficWave is a more affordable alternative that will definitely get the job done.

Both autoresponders offer 30-day trial memberships so there is no reason not to try them both and decide which one you like the most.

Ok, I think that’s enough one day.

I’ll be posting my JV giveaway events listing tomorrow and Ryan Hogan is about to launch a new product so look for my next post in this series early next week.

Today I spent a few hours working on making a new squeeze page for my ebook (the last one bombed hard). Now that it is up and traffic is flowing to it I got to spend some time reading. I just finished reading a copy of “15 Day Resell Rights Success” which is an ebook that show you how to make money with resell rights products.

I have been dabbling with master resell rights products for a few years. I admit that for the most part I have been stumbling blindly with very little success. 15 Day Resell Rights Success gives me a road map that I can follow which is broken up into 15 tasks. Complete 1 task a day and in 15 days you will have success.. or so they say.

I was skeptical but 15 Day Resell Rights Success is actually packed with really good information that I have not been able to find elsewhere. The section about how to turn trash into cash was a real eye opener for me.

If you have a collection of resell rights products on your computer or if are looking for the best places to cheaply acquire master resell rights products check out the 15 Day Resell Rights Success ebook.

How To Poll Your Niche Market

Author: Jerry Iannucci

A few weeks ago I posted an article called “How To Choose A Niche Product People Want To Buy”. If you missed it just click here now.

I mentioned that it is a good idea to poll your niche market to find out what they are willing to buy before you go out and create a product that nobody wants.

Here’s how to poll your niche market:

1. First you need to setup a web page where your visitors will go to fill out a survey.  You can find a good polling script at cgi-resources.com.  You can also do it manually by having people email you but that is much more time consuming and doesn’t really have the same effect response wise

2. Make your poll very simple.  You do not want to ask 50 questions that some of your market may not have answers for. If you do that, they simple won’t fill it out, or they will fill it out falsely. You want to keep it simple enough so that all of the market you are aiming at can do it, but you also want to get enough information out of them for the venture to be a success.

Here are some sample ideas of questions you can ask:

… In the next 3 months, what would you most likely purchase
… How much money are you willing to spend on this
… What is the main problem that you have with “ABC”

3. Create a free report on the topic that you feel your target market is most interested in. Do some quick research and write an essay, or summarize a certain subject. This free report is going to be the reason why people are filling out your survey in the first place. If you do not have anything to give them for their participation, then they most likely won’t participate.

4. Find a newsletter that offers solo mailings. You will get much better results if you do this kind of survey with solo mailings. Actually, your best bet is to send it to your own mailing list but if you don’t already have a list of people in your niche then it is better to spend a few dollars to promote your survey with a solo mailing.

5. Your solo ad simply needs to be about getting a free report if they click on your link. The link takes them to the survey page that gives a short explanation of how all they need to do to get the free report is to fill out this short survey.

A few tips with creating your poll…
a.. Do not have any of the options already checked. This will create false results as people will just click the “submit” button quickly and not even change the “already checked” results.

b.. Make sure and have “None of the above” options for each question. All of your products ideas might not be bought by anybody, and if you do not have “none of the above” options, then you would never know and you could still possibly end up creating something that nobody wants.

c.. No fancy designs. Have your webpage that hosts the poll on it, simply for hosting the poll. No need for fancy, flashy designs and links going to several different places. Just have your poll and that is it. After you have done the above, tally up the results and begin designing the product you are going to create. Usually, you will see the results are pretty one sided. The majority of people will have picked the same options, which is what you want.

If the results show that everything is pretty equal, then pick the option that you are most comfortable with creating. If the majority of the results show “None of the above” answers, then create different questions and poll them again.

Polling your target market is much easier to do that it sounds. Just follow the instructions watch the results.

About a week ago I wrote a post explaining how to choose a niche market. If you missed that article you can read it here.

Assuming you have followed my instructions and chosen a niche market you now need to figure out what people want to buy. Don’t waste your time and money creating a niche product that nobody wants to buy.

Even if you are thinking about creating something that is already successful you still need to follow this important step. In my opinion, you should not try to create something that isn’t at least a little bit unique. If you want to be successful do not try to create something that is exactly the same as something already out there.

It is better to use the same idea as the successful product but you want to put your own edge and uniqueness into it that will make it beneficial to the customer.

This way, you have something *better* than what is already out there. And the way you find that out is by asking a few questions.

Here’s what you need to do… Poll your target niche market to find out exactly what they want!

Simply ask your target market a few questions to find out what it is that they are willing to buy. What problem do they have that you can solve, etc… It’s not hard to do and the results are incredible. This will also help you to find the unique edge that you are looking for to add to an already successful idea. Just ask people what other features/benefits they are looking for that could make this product better.

Here is what you need to do… Create a list of product ideas that you are interested in creating. Whether you are planning on doing software, an e-book, membership site, whatever. Try to come up with as many ideas as you can and then narrow it down to about 5 to 15 product ideas.

You then need to survey as many people in your target niche as possible to determine which products your market is interested in buying. See how simple this is? This will save you hours or even days of time creating products that nobody wants to buy. And of course, when you do find what people want and give it to them at a reasonable price, you have just unleashed a mad stream of cash, charging into your pockets.

If you don’t find out what people want or just create a product on a hunch then you could end up with a product that will never sell. This would not only be a waste of time creating a product but also a waste of money and advertising trying to get it to sell.

So what is the best way to poll your audience? Hmm.. I think I will wait and cover that in a few days. Until then you can learn everything you need to know about creating and making money with niche products by obtaining a copy of Niche Profit Formula.

If you really want to make money as a successful affiliate marketer you must first learn to identify the possibilities of making money online.

Basically, there are two ways to make money with affiliate marketing.

1. One-Off Commissions

Using this method the affiliate marketer earns a percentage of the product price every time they help make a sale. When selling these kinds of products it is best not to focus on products that pay $10 or $20 commissions. You are better off focusing on higher priced digital products since digital products will often reward you with 50% commissions or higher.

The idea behind this is that it takes just as much effort to promote a $10.00 product versus a $97.00 product so you are better off selling higher ticket items. If you do the math you will see that you would need to sell 9-10 copies of a $10 product to earn the same amount as selling one copy of a $97 product.. assuming the commissions are 50% for both products.

Where minimum effort maximum efficiency is concerned, you are better off promoting higher ticket items with high payouts as well.

2. Recurring Commissions

This is what all affiliate marketers should be striving for if they want to make their one-time promotion effort pay off residually. Sometimes, a recurring affiliate program will offer anywhere from 30 to 75 percent in commissions.

Keep your eyes peeled for membership and service oriented sites that off this kind of program. It always helps to focus on promoting at least a few of these kinds of affiliate programs that reward you on a recurring basis.

If you are really serious about earning maximum profits with affiliate marketing I highly encourage you to secure a copy of “Affiliate Partner Success Secrets“. It will show you the quickest and easiest way to start making money with affiliate marketing.

Are affiliate marketers still in demand today? Absolutely! As a matter of fact… affiliate marketers are more in demand than ever!

You see, digital products are being created at a dizzying rate by creators from around the world everyday. When these products enter the marketplace hot and new they often missing one vital marketing component: affiliates.

Basically, every affiliate program needs competent affiliate marketers to help spread the word about their new product or service.

In the digital marketplace, affiliate programs can pay out as much as 50 to 80 percent (and sometimes 100%!) in commissions to motivate affiliates to help market their new product.

The idea behind this is simple: an individual can only do so much on his own when it comes to marketing, especially when compared to matching the marketing power of hundreds or even thousands of performing affiliates.

There is a huge piece of pie out there for everyone. However, there is one small problem: Have you ever noticed that in every affiliate program there are probably 90 to 95 percent of the affiliates who aren’t generating any sales? Chances are, you are one of them.

Tonight I had a chance to read an ebook by Edmund Loh which shares some of his affiliate marketing success strategies. If you would like to tap into the minds of the top 5 to 10 percent super affiliate marketers, I suggest that you get a copy of “Affiliate Partner Success Secrets”.
